FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How is this Underwater Treadmill different from a land unit?
The most important difference is the low-impact on the joints, skeletal system and muscles due to the buoyancy water gives to the body. One other key difference is the reduction of time needed to obtain an equivalent benefit. Due to the resistance provided by the water surrounding the body (12 times greater than air), the effort and calories expended per minute are significantly greater than using a land treadmill.  Therefore, the time required to gain the equivalent benefit is approximately one-half of a land treadmill.

How is the treadmill powered?
The Underwater Treadmill has NO internal power source. The power is in you! This fact allows the user to instantly vary the effort being expended across a broad range of speed and back again, simulating real-life conditions such as strolling, power-walking, hill-climbing, jogging and level track work.

What are the dimensions and weight of the treadmill?
Length: 38" x Width: 26".   Handrail Height: 46".  Eight degree angle of incline.  Weight: 50 pounds.

Can the treadmill be used on land?
NO! The water is required as a lubricant for the plastic bearings. Use on land will cause the bearings to overheat and deform.

How much maintenance does my Underwater Treadmill require?
Actually, the Underwater Treadmill is designed to be nearly maintenance-free. All materials used are specified for aquatic and pool environment use. The treadmill can remain in the water year-round without harmful effects. The patented bearing system uses a proprietary combination of proven materials including Teflon which is part of the mixture, not a coating.

The treadmill belt makes use of a patented self-adjusting mechanism which will ensure long belt life.  All metallic parts are made of Marine Grade, anti-corrosive 5052 Aluminum. Periodic washing with car wash soap using a terry cloth towel or new sponge are all that is needed to maintain the original finish.

Do not use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners.
